Be it my life, my liberty, or my pursuit of happiness, I am open minded to whatever it is I discover. A government that cannot, or does not protect the humblest Citizen in his right to life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness, should be reformed or overt. I hope to get responses and arguments from people, and to spark the thought process of people who happen to read this. My personal challenge to myself is to do research on issues that I am passionate about, then blog about them. What I am not happy about lately is how a lot of our government money is wasted, the corruption by people who should be setting examples to us all, and the people who suck this country dry without contributing.

I realize our tax dollars go towards everything from the highway that I drive on to work everyday, to all of my niece's and nephew's education. For the longest time I was bitter about how much I pay in taxes, but now I am happy to pay. I file my taxes every year and I pay something like 25% of my total salary to the government. I am challenging myself to become a more informed taxpayer and American citizen. Politics are so easy to get lost in the, well, politics. I couldn't wait to cast my vote, even if I didn't always know what the current events were. As soon as I was 18, I registered to vote. I started to think that I consider myself a pretty opinionated person, but I had slim to no knowledge of why I have most of the opinions that I have. It's hard to even imagine black people being taught at a different school as white people, or women not being able to vote. The United States has come a long way, and now because of our founding fathers, the possibilities are endless for me.

I can speak my mind, do what I want, work where I want, and fight for what I believe in.
